Yes, it's true - the all-new, configurable system requester library, the asl.library has been released. The people responsible are Miloslaw Smyk and Marcin Orlowski of W.F.M.H...

Asl.library v42.0 is available for downloading here:

Download Get the LhA archive (ca. 85KB)

Also you can read documentation on-line. The "Usage" page may look a bit weird, depending on the font your browser uses.

----

These are just some of the new features of asl.library:

  • configurable default position and size of the requesters,
  • all requesters can be open relative to mouse, current screen, parent window and so on,
  • all requesters open on visible part of virtual screens...
  • ...and bring the screen to front,
  • file requester can now use proportional fonts,
  • order of files/directories in filerequester can be changed,
  • file requester can sort volumes by devices name,
  • default values in ScreenMode requester can be changed, too.
All this is settable by AslPrefs, which is pictured below:
Preferences... (20KB)

As it can be easily seen it uses MagicUserInterface! If you are one of these persons that for absolutely no reason hate MUI, you will be happy to learn that usual gadtools-style preferences editor is in the works and will be available shortly.
