Where Am I? v1.4 released
Posted by: Borszczuk in Computers, PalmOS, tags: gmm, google, gps, maps, PalmOS, update, waiWhere Am I? v1.4 is now available. This is kind of major update (even the change log isn’t that impressive as you can see), but due to latest Google’s change , older versions no longer work correctly (or in fact, they do but you will get no search results at all). Get the latest version using WAI?’s built-in "Check for update" feature or download from many sites that mirrors this application (i. e. PalmGear , Softonic , PalmInfoCenter ) or just use local copy .
New things in version 1.4: support for latest Google’s query handling (you must update if you wish to use WAI with GMM – all the older versions no longer work correctly) and 5-Way navigation.

Nice little app.. is there anyway to call it up from gmm to update the position? Is this a technical problem or is this an implementation issue?

Technically yes. But I am not going to make it -> it would requite far too much hacking to make it work (if ever) than it is currently worth. Sorry

What change did you make between 1.3 and 1.4? Is there now just one specific way to enter lat/long coordinates in Palm OS GoogleMaps? If so, what the heck is it??? Thanks!

It’s listed in the post you comment -> “New things in version 1.4:”. Also I log all the changes in CHANGES.txt which is always included. Get the “WhereAmI_1.4.zip” from http://wfmh.org.pl/carlos/files/palm/ As for GMM – I did not fix it. I worked it around.

I know that you changed the query, but I want to know what that change IS! Is it a specific syntax? Like N32 43′ 34.67″ versus N32 43.456? What are you sending to GMM?

Coords format is the same, as the problems is not there. If you are lucky you may find your location given by coords by searching for business instead.

Was wondering now that the Centro is out there are you plaining on making “WhereAmI” work with its internal GPS???

I had access to pre release Centro devices before it officially appeared on the market so I ensured it works perfectly on these devices. However I am also quite sure Centro does NOT feature GPS receiver (neither in GSM nor CDMA models) -> it’s in general slim factored treo 755/680. I am thinking about adding tower based ‘GPS’ to WAI?, but it may go for v1.6.
Forthcomming version 1.5 address “Select Bluetooth device over-and-over again” annoyance many people complained about.

Definitely no GPS receiver in the current Centro, and probly not in “near-future” Centros. The 1.5 mod sounds great!

Is there a way to track position at specified time intervals and somehow record them?

Not with WAI?. But there’re apps that can do that, i.e. Google Earth Logger (KML Creator)
