Where Am I? in action Version 1.7 did not last too long, isn’t it? 1.8 which I am announcing right now brings no new features, however fixes two bugs: altitude readouts were incorrect under some circumstances (it plagued only imperial (fsw) display). Also version checker could leak couple of bytes or leave progress window opened in case of network failure.

Where Am I? in action Finally, WAI development returned back to its regular track. While version 1.7 I am announcing right now is not bringing any new bells and whistles, you may consider update. Major change is new shiny on-line version checker which now incorporates internal routines instead of hiring web browser to do the job. And if you wonder what Where Am I? can bring you in forthcoming release – what I am recently working on is bookmarking system as many users asked about that feature. And if you like this app, please consider donating . Donors shall check their mailboxes for the update copy.

Cygwin For those who do not know it yet, Cygwin is free, Linux like environment for Windows that provides substantial API that allows you to build (and then run) linux applications. It does not run Linux native apps out of the box, but for most cases it’s pretty easy to recompile one from its sources. This lets you have and run lot of Linux applications you know and use on your windows box. And that Cygwin is for. While installation of Cygwin is rather simple task, some things shall be "corrected" by hand, to make Cygwin use more comfortable.

Announcement Couple of days passed since last WhereAmI? release. Unfortunately I had absolutely no time to for WAI? development during these days, even version 1.7 is almost done (it will officially be out on Apr 1 -> no joke). Unluckily I also had some issues dealing with your donations. I deeply apologize to any of you who placed donation and still awaits full featured copy to arrive which I used to send as a "Thank you" for your donation. All people who’s donation remains not handled, please add your comment to this post with your valid email address and Hotsync Id you use, so I can match your donation and ship the application immediately. Thank you all for your support and understanding.

PS: Even comments are moderated (and I will not publish any from this post) please do not post here if you’re handled or want to discuss Where Am I? as application. Please use this post to comment on application .

Where Am I? in action As it seemed version 1.5 cauased dome problems under some conditions (mostly reported by users with non english ROMs) I decided to push out version 1.6 much earlier than I formerly planned. So, in meanwhile get it using WAI?’s built-in “Check for update” feature or download from many sites that mirrors this application or just use local copy . New things in version 1.6 – you can now choose what search mode you want WAI? to order from Google Maps. Be it ordinary location search, search for nearest business. Or you will continue with direction planning with current location set as destination (To Place) or departure (From Place). Also, version 1.6 brings you current Altitude readouts (assuming your GPS receiver provides such information). Enjoy. And if you like this app, please consider donating .

Keyring for PalmOS in action It was a couple days ago when I hacked a wonderful Keyring for Palm OS , which is electronic wallet you could use (and I do) to keep all your PINs or passwords secure. It’s freeware, open sourced and uses real cryptography for what it’s doing. I strongly recommend giving this application a try if you haven’t had a chance to do that to date.

Where Am I? in action I was out for a longer while, so the former release date of this version was slightly different, but despite of lot of other "queued" tasks I have now to finish I managed to build Where Am I? v1.5 which is now available. Get the latest version using WAI?’s built-in “Check for update” feature or download from many sites that mirrors this application (i. e. Softonic , PalmInfoCenter ) or just use local copy . New thing in version 1.5 – WAI now remembers last chosen BT device – so it won’t bug you to select one each time you launch. Reg’ed users please stay tuned I will get in touch with you this week. Thanks.

PS: Happy New Year!
